did an experiment where we tried to transduce a mutant gene into E.coli and wanted to see the effect that increasing the volume of Lysate (including bacteriophage) had on the number of transductants. the number of transductants rose as the volume of lysate increased, as expected but as it reached a maximum, it started to decline which was unexpected. can someone shed any light as to why this happened?
thank you
