The role of the liver in fuel supply to the blood.

Description
If glucose levels decrease, glucose-monitoring regions in the brain initiate a series of responses that result in the secretion of hormones, such as glucagon, that stimulate the breakdown of glycogen, glycerol, amino acids, and fatty acids in the liver. The glucose and ketones that form as a result of this breakdown enter the blood stream, where they travel to all the body's cells and supply energy.
