SlideshowReport

Culture and sensitivity testing.

Description
These Petri dishes grew colonies of the bacterium E. coli, the most common cause of a urinary tract infection. Antibiotic disks were placed in the Petri dishes. The antibiotic drugs that were most effective against E. coli show a large zone of inhibition (clear ring) around the disk where the bacterium could not grow. One of those antibiotic drugs would be prescribed to treat this patient’s urinary tract infection.
