Polysaccharides that are polymers of glucose

Tags
Description
These polysaccharides differ in their arrangement, extent of branching, and type of glucose isomer. Starch and glycogen use ?-glucose and readily form branched structures. This allows easy access to glucose molecules to meet organisms' energy needs. For cellulose, ?-glucose molecules are used. This allows the ready formation of extensive hydrogen bonds between neighbouring fibres to produce tough fibres that can support plants.
