Time course and phases of a nerve cell going from resting potential to action potential

Description
Nerve cells fire once the threshold of excitation is reached. During the action potential positively charged ions rush inside the cell membrane, creating a net positive change within the cell. Positively charged ions are then forced out of the cell as it returns to its resting potential.
