Oxidative phosphorylation

Tags
Description
This process consists of two distinct events involving the electron transport chain and the ATP synthase. The electron transport chain removes electrons from NADH or FADH2 and pumps H+ across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The ATP synthase uses the energy in the H+ electrochemical gradient to phosphorylate ADP and thereby synthesize ATP.
