The evolution of orthologs: homologous genes from different species.

Description
After two species diverged from each other, the genes accumulated random mutations that created similar but not identical gene sequences called orthologs. These orthologs in E. coli and C. acetylbutylicum encode metal transporters. Only one of the two DNA strands is shown from each gene. Bases that are identical between the two genes are shown in orange.
