SlideshowReport

Seedling growth showing the triple response to ethylene.

Description
When applied at levels above a particular concentration (0.80 ppm), ethylene causes seedling stems to cease elongation, swell radially, and bend to form a hook that can push upward through the soil. Ethylene produced naturally within seedlings causes the same response.
