Title: Describe the relationship between substrate concentration and the initial reaction rate of an enzyme-catalyzed Post by: Bugbaja on Sep 15, 2012 Initial rate increases linearly as the substrate concentration increases as the active of site the enzyme becomes more likely to collide with the substrate molecule forming an E-S complex. As the substrate increases a point will be reached where adding more substrate has no effect on enzyme activity - this is when excess substrate is present and the amount of enzyme is not limiting.
