There are many examples and types of evidence for evolution.  You have been looking at fossils/transitional fossils, patterns of distribution/biogeography, anatomy, embryology, molecular biology and genetics.

1. Why do you find the evidence of fossils the most compelling?

Do a little bit of independent research and give one good example of evidence for evolution that you find interesting.  You can start with something you initially found in your text or the online content, but you should then move on to material from other sources (cite your sources!) to further support and explain your example.

2. What is your example of evidence for evolution (fossils)?  Explain and support your example.

3. What is it that you find most interesting/compelling about the example you chose?

Fossils at different strata of rock are similar, but as you move up or down, they change, which suggests that species changed over-time since it takes years for new layers of rock to form.

Fossils are formed when a plant or animal die and its soft body parts degrade, leaving behind harder parts as leaves, bones, and shells. The important evidence of fossils evolution are; fossil remains can give us insight into how prehistoric plants and animals obtained food, reproduced and even how they behaved. Geologists also use fossils biostratigraphic correlation to determine layers of rock and this also helps other researchers to determine layers of rock in different locations by age based on how similar the fossils in each rock layer are. Fossils supply valuable evidence of environmental interpretation, or understanding how the earth has changed over time. The type of fossil found in a particular location determine what kind of environment existed when the fossil was formed.
