This answer should be 0.5mL

For the bottom two Pediatric or Children's dosage Calculations use the following conversion

1kg = 2.2lbs

The following problems need correction:

g.The physician orders 12.5 mg of meperidine IM. On hand you have 25 mg/ mL. How many milliliters will you give?
2 ml

You would administer 0.5 mL.

Topic: Pediatric or Children's Dosage Calculations

b.The physician orders codeine sulfate, 0.5 mg/ kg of body weight for pain. The patient weighs 50 pounds. The medication may be given every 4 to 6 hours. How many milligrams will the patient receive?
2 mg every 4 hrs
3 mg every 6 hrs

Since this problem is in regard to a pediatric dosing calculation, I feel it would be best not to round up the dose (especially with a medication that can cause respiratory depression such as an opiate).

1.89 mg q4 hrs
2.84 mg q6 hrs

Of course, follow your school's protocol regarding rounding medication doses.
