the nutritional fact label is useful ONLY if you know how to read it. Otherwise its very easy to say 'calories are few' so it must be good. The ingredient list is very, very tricky. manufacturers have come up with ways to tweak the words to trick you into thinking that what youre taking in is healthy.

The nutrition facts label is designed so much so that you really make positive choices when it comes to food selection.  The quantity and qualities of food consumption has a great impact in your lifestyle.  This is where the food label comes in.  The food pyramid is a great example indicating the rough idea of what should be consumed in large quantities or small quantities.

To answer your second question,
Well, the likeness of a particular food depends upon each person and their interests.  But surely healthy snacks such as nuts and dried fruits can be added along with the food that they like if it falls in the healthy category.  But they should contain the required nutrients to fulfill the goal of consuming healthy diet.  So yes, the menu can be created so that it contains food you like to eat.  But better watch for the quantities you take in.

the nutrition label is useful because it will show you the ingredients that are in your food. It is very complicated to read though

There are many different ways to use a nutrition label to make better choices. It all depends on what your goal is. The labels aren't that bad to read if you know what you're looking for. You want to keep in mind that the information listed on it is per serving size, so the values will be higher if you eat more than one serving size. Generally speaking you want to keep saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol and sodium, and sugars as low as possible. As far as the ingredients list is concerned, the first few listed are usually the main ingredients and make up most of the content of the food item. The National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute has more in-depth information on their website.
