Why can urea diffuse freely from plasma into cells when most cholesterol,although lipid-soluble, must cross a membrane by receptor-mediated endocytosis?

Urea not only has a certain amount of lipid solubility but its size in comparison to cholesterol is quite minute. Therefore, the small molecular radius of urea allows it to enter cells through open aqueous channels whereas the larger cholesterol molecule requires assistance from membrane proteins.
