Hey everyone so I am currently working on a lab involving observing fertilization of the egg and sperm of sea urchins. I am quite confused on one question however.
1. What would be the resulting ploidy of the embryo if 2 sperm nuclei entered the egg? Why would this ploidy level be lethal for the egg?

Does it have something to do with additional chromosomes in the embyro causing damage to it? If someone could help explain this to me it would be much appreciated!
