Activity 3: Indirect Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
Why a patient might test indeterminate?

Activity 1: Using Direct Fluorescent Antibody Technique to Test for Chlamydia.
How would the results be affected if a negative control gave a positive result?

Activity 3: Indirect Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
How the direct and indirect ELISA are different?

Activity 1: Using Direct Fluorescent Antibody Technique to Test for Chlamydia.
Explain where the epitope (antigenic determinant) is located

Activity 1: Using Direct Fluorescent Antibody Technique to Test for Chlamydia.
Describe the importance of the washing steps in the direct antibody fluorescence test.

Activity 2: Comparing Samples with Ouchterlony Double Diffusion.
Why does the precipitin line form?

Activity 4: Western Blotting Technique.
Why the HIV Western blot is a more specific test than the indirect ELISA for HIV?

Activity 1: Using Direct Fluorescent Antibody Technique to Test for Chlamydia.
Describe how a positive result is detected in this serological test.

Activity 4: Western Blotting Technique.
Explain the procedure for a patient with an indeterminate HIV Western blot result.

Activity 3: Indirect Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
Why a patient might test indeterminate?

The patient might test indeterminate if they have not yet seroconverted or if they have not yet produced enough antibodies to yield a positive result.

Activity 3: Indirect Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
How the direct and indirect ELISA are different?.........

The Direct ELISA is used to detect antigens against a specific antibody bound in a test well
The Indirect ELISA is used to detect antibodies against an antigen bound in a test well.
