the action potential does not have to depolarize every segment of the axon membrane.
   
myelinated cells have more leakage through the membrane.
   
myelinated axons are larger in diameter.
   
myelinated cells have more ion channels per unit area than do non-myelinated cells.
   
myelinated fibers have a lower threshold of activation.

As a result, it would be "jumping" from one node to another saving time and conducting faster.
