If 2.50 kg of bornite is reacted with excess O2 and the process has an 82.5% yield of copper, how much copper is produced (in kg)?

A sample was decomposed in the laboratory and found to have 38.67g C, 16.22g H, and 45.11g N.

a)Find the molecular formula of this compound if the Formula mass is 62.12 g/mole.
b)Determine how many H atoms would be in a 3.50g sample of this compound.

Here's a sample question:

If 2.18 metric tons of bornite is reacted with excess O2 and the process has an 87.8% yield of copper, what mass of copper is produced?

2 Cu3FeS3(s) + 7 O2(g) 6 Cu(s) + 2 FeO(s) + 6 SO2(g)

Answer:

First workout the amount of Cu in the Bornite

% Cu = MW Cu* number of Cu atoms/ MW of bornite
= 63.55*3 /( 3*63.55 +55.85 + 32.07*3)
= 55.63%

Amount of Cu available = 55.63% * 2.18 = 1.213 t

If yield is 87.8% then you will obtain 87.8% * 1.213 = 1.06 t produced
