What is it that makes diseases caused by viruses and bacteria hard to treat?

Hello there

Off the top of my head, bacteria diseases are difficult to treat because since they have a short life cycle, they tend to replicate quickly and with treatments, become more tolerant and resistant. Which is why higher dosages are required or more power treatments are used to treat them. In fact, in microbiological techniques, there is a calculation made to assess which antiobiotic is best to treat or how resistant specific strains of bacteria are.

As for viruses, they too are difficult to treat and design vaccines for simply because of their unpredictability. They mutate and alter their genome with every replication such that their genetical material is difficult to track. It is therefore not stable and is difficult to predict the probabilities with which is could alter the genome.
