I need help with one question on wards ap biology lab #4 plants and pigments. What does the value Rf mean?

It's the distance that the pigment moved in relation to the distance that the solvent moved.

Basically, it's use is to make measurements easier to compare. For instance, if someone used a chromatography strip that was longer than someone else's, their distance traveled would be different, but the Rf value would be the same. Hope this helps. Slight Smile
