1. A man whose maternal grandfather had galactosemia (a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disease) married a woman whose sister had galactosemia. The woman is now pregnant with their first child.

b) (1pt) What is the probability that their child will have galactosemia?
c) (1pt) If the first child does have galactosemia, what is the probability the second child will have it?

both parents must be heterzygous for this child to have a 1/4 chance of inheriting the diseae. Since the mother's sister is affect with the condition, their parents must have both been heterzygous ...

A) 1/4 * 2/3 * 1/2 = 1/12

B) 1/4
