Complex carbohydrates may be referred to as dietary starch and are made of sugar molecules strung together like a necklace or branched like a coil. They are often rich in fiber, thus satisfying and health promoting.
Glucose is the main sugar we use: white and brown sugar, honey, corn syrup are all made up of approx 99.9% glucose.
Fructose is present in all fruit as well as in some vegetables (in a much lower amount).
Lactose is the milk's sugar. In order to digest it you need to produce lactase, an enzyme.

These carbohydrates are commonly found in whole plant foods and, therefore, are also often high in vitamins and minerals.
Example:
Starchy vegetables such as potatoes, corn, and pumpkin
Beans, lentils, and peas
Green vegetables
Whole grains and foods made from them, such as oatmeal, pasta, and whole-grain bread
Simple carbohydrates are sugars. All simple carbohydrates are made of just one or two sugar molecules. They are the quickest source of energy, as they are very rapidly digested.
Example:
Fruit drinks
Soft drinks
Honey
Maple syrup
Table sugar
Brown sugar
