A homozygous purple (pur-purple eye colour), (do-dumpy wings), black (bl-black body) fruit fly is crossed with a pure breeding wild type fruit fly. The Fl flies from this cross are then testcrossed, producing the following F2 phenotypic classes:

Wild type   756
Purple     59
Dumpy   414
Black      21
Purple, dumpy     23
Purple black   417
Dumpy, black     60
Purple, dumpy, black   750

(a)   Give the genotypes of the parental and F1 flies in the cross.
(b)   Determine the gene order, ie which gene is in the middle.
(c)   Label each of the F2 phenotypic classes as non-recombinant (parental), recombinant or double recombinant.
(d)   Calculate the map distances between the loci and show how the loci map relative to one another. Demonstrate with diagrams and showing your calculations how you determine the gene order and map distances.
(e)   Calculate the Coefficient of Coincidence and Interference.
