Hi there, I'm stumped on what I think is actually a pretty easy question. I'm wondering if the correct response to this question is just 1000 to the power of 3, or answer E. If it is not, I'm looking for some clarification on where I'm going wrong with my logic. Thanks in advance.

Generally, individuals differ from one another in 1 base pair out of every 1000 base pairs. If three different restriction enzymes were used to construct three different restriction fragment length gels, the combined pattern would be expected to be unique for:
a.         1/100,000 individuals (roughly the population of the Kamloops region)
b.         1/1,000,000 individuals (roughly the population of one half of Metropolitan Vancouver)
c.         1/10,000,000 individuals (roughly the population of Western Canada)
d.         1/100,000,000 individuals (roughly the population of Mexico)
e.         1/1,000,000,000 individuals (roughly the population of India)
