William begins to shop around for molding prices. He needs 65 1/8 ft of molding. He finds two stores advertisements.

Construction Depot Store:
Molding Price:
$2.40/foot
Sold by 12-foot pieces

Home repair store:
Molding price:
$2.50/foot
Sold by 10-foot pieces

(a) What is the minimum of pieces of molding William would have to buy if he makes his purchase from Construction Depot Store? What is the minimum number of pieces of molding William would have to buy if he makes his purchase from Home Repair Store? Explain your answer.
(b) William's son claims they will save money if they buy from Home Repair Store. Is William's son correct? Explain why or why not

(c) Williams son also claims that they will have less unused molding if they buy from Home Repair Store. Is Williams son correct? Explain why or why not.

(d) William meets an independent supplier who says he sells molding by 10 ft lengths also. The independent supplier's price is negotiable. What is the maximum amount William should be willing to pay per foot to get a better total price than he would get from Construction Depot Store and Home Repair Store? How much would the total be for the molding he needs? Show your work.

(e) William presents his price to the independent supplier and the negotiation falls through. William now must buy from Construction depot Store or Home Repair Store. William's wife says, "How about we buy some pieces from Construction Depot Store and some pieces from Home repair Store?" How many pieces should they buy from Construction depot Store and how many from Home Repair Store to get the lowest cost? How much would their total cost be for the molding? Explain your answer.
