during combustion atoms of the fuels get oxidized like if a fuel has Carbon and hydrogen then its atoms oxidized to CO2 and H2O
Though gasoline has no N in it but during combustion in the presence of air (N2 is major component of air) a lrage amount of heat is released. This results in the oxidation of N2 to( NO )x
