Which of the following processes includes all others?
A) diffusion of a solute across a membrane
B) facilitated diffusion
C) passive transport
D) osmosis
E) transport of an ion down its electrochemical gradient

Answer is Passive Transport because that's what the other options are!  Who ever said A is wrong, since Diffusion is passive transport!
This question and answer is right out of the Campbell Biology book.

Your question doesn't make sense.

Osmosis refers strictly to water molecules so it cannot be A or E. You are correct to say that C, passive transport is the process of everything else stated.
