In a way.The larger the size of the molecule the earlier it will elute out & vice-versa.An eg.  say we have 2 protein molecules BSA (mol weight-66Kda)& Hemoglobin(Hb) with molecular weight- 280 Kda.We load the sample in a Gel filtration column. Hb will come out first followed by BSA .
