thats not true at all. to break down glucose you need 2 ATP to break it down. which gives you 4 ATP so you end up with a net gain of 2. the rest of cellular respiration doesn;t really require energy it just requires oxygen. SO in theory it requires energy since it takes more energy to breathe than to not breathe. basically what you need to know is that when u burn glucose you only create 2 ATP and when u go through the whole process you create 32-36 ATP (depending on the text book you read)
