At the core of the sun, Nuclear fusion (or fission? cant remember) takes place which converts hydrogen into helium... This type of reaction is not present in the other planets. (BTW this reaction is the reason why the sun is always shining).

Another thing is that planets are made out of different layers than the sun. The sun has convection zones and radiation zones and  a photosphere (etc..) stuff that planets do not have.

Lastly (much more comparisons though) the sun has a much larger gravitational field than all the other planets.

Similarities :
1. It is also a object moving around something like other planets. Just difference is planets r moving around sun and sun is moving around other object.
2.Like other planets it also has its own gravitational and magnetic field.

Differences :
1.Major difference is planets can not produce there own energy.
2.The creation of hydrogen from helium in such a big manner is not possible on any other planet.
3.The gravitational and magnetic field of sun much bigger than any other planet in our solar system.
