Water is a polar inorganic compound that contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms that are connected by covalent bonds meaning it is electrically charged. Since water exist in three different physical forms; solid, liquid and gas and depending on the temperature, the hydrogen bonds between the molecules of water can breaks or forms. For example,  at high temperature, water molecules move fast enough to break their hydrogen bonds and move into the gas phase due to the amount of kinetic energy of molecules gained. However, at low temperature, the water molecules have less kinetic energy, slowing down and packing closer together which allows the hydrogen bonds to form and hold the water molecules in place as a solid.
