is it because
1) they produce a large number of food molecules to store
2)they have no way to get rid of fwaste molecules
3)they need to store water because plants cannot move to find water
4)they use the vacuole to focus sunlight which plant cells need to absorb

My guess is 3 but i really am not sure.  Thanks for your help

I agree of the options given number three is the best.

However plant vacuoles are not restricted to a single function. Vacuoles are a water reservoir, an osmoregulator, a waste reservoir, and a key part of a cell's structural form.

The vacuole is like a pneumatic beam that works as a stiffening member. The central vacuole presses out against the cell wall keeping the cell's shape especially in leaves & petals that wilt.  Loss of water turgor and the plant wilts.
Plants can use this internal pressure in cell elongation for controlled growth. Osmoregulation is controlled by active transport of ions and other molecules. Vacuoles can be repositories for metabolic wastes that are easily shed along with leaves. Vacuoles can have different jobs in different specialized cells or different jobs in the same cell as the cell ages.
