Your partner has just intubated your cardiac arrest patient. When you auscultate the lungs, you hear no breath sounds over either the right or left, and you note the presence of epigastric sounds. Your partner should:
A) Deflate the cuff and pull the tube out as it is in the esophagus.
B) If the pulse oximeter indicates an oxygen saturation above 90%, leave the tube in place.
C) Use an esophageal detector device to confirm proper placement.
D) Check the end-tidal carbon dioxide reading.
