The coastal landform shown in Picture A is a Beach

Beaches are formed due to continuous wave action on coastal land which cuts the coast and lowers its elevation equal to sea waves height. The coast is covered by sand of fine to coarse sizes mixed with shells. Beach is the first defence coastal landform between land and sea. The sand in beach is deposited and eroded by sea waves. In high tide times the beaches are mostly submerged under sea water. In low tide time we can see maximum beach area as the sea water recedes towards sea.

The landfroms shown in picture B is a hard rock land form was eroded by sea waves and now standing as Cliff in the sea water.

The continuous wave action eroding the cliff and forming rectangular opening called Arch.

Some small erosional faces in the cliff due to sea waves action forms caves.

The continuous sea wave action and weathering action beaks the arch structure in the cliff and one part stands as tall pillar called SeaStock.

Due to further weathering and sea action the height of stacks broken down and it remains as small pillar above seawater is called SeaStump.

What might be the future of (A) and (B) in 1, 10, and 100 years? Why?

There is no much change in sea beach shown in picture A in one year time.

In 10 years’ time the beach will be narrow at some places and widened at some places depending upon sea wave action due to change in wind speed and direction. In 100 times the changes will be drastic in some places. The land will be further eroded further due to sea waves action and sea beach place will be extended towards land and present beach area may be submerged by sea water. There is also possibility the due change in wind direction and speed the waves action may less in this area may be occupied by land mass and covered by gross and trees. So there may be no beach at present area. All these actions may takes place may not be because they are depend on wind, sea transgression and regression actions.

The change in cliff, arch and stack shown in picture may not show much change in1 year time.In10 years time the size of the arch may increase due to wave action and weathering. In 100 years time the arch structure may be broken down and may form stock on side. There may be new arch formed in another area in the cliff rock.
