When a disaccharide is broken down into 2 monosaccharides, H20 is added. I need to know, what type of reaction is this?

Inversely (as help): Joining two monosaccharides to get a disaccharide, H20 is lost. This reaction is dehydration synthesis. (So, I assume the answer I'm looking for, is opposite of dehydration synthesis)

I would say hydrolysis - definitely.

hydro = water
lysis = splitting

so splitting with water.

hydrolysis is the breaking of two monosaccharides.
Combination synthesis is the forming of two monosaccharides
