Bacterial infections are treated with antibiotics. Viral infections are treated with interferon, antiviral drugs and vaccines. With antibiotics if used too much the bacteria changes itself so that the antibiotic no longer is useful. Vaccines protect us by already having the virus in us so that our body can destroy it.
