I thought I understood friction but then there's this question and I literally have no idea how to answer it. I searched it and people were saying that wearing socks reduced friction- but I don't understand how that works?

examples of reducing friction: the oil in your car engine. the lubricant in locks. the wax on snow skis.

examples of increasing friction: the grit on sandpaper. the soles of your shoes & treads on tires.
