1,2,3 -- Nutritional counseling is directed at establishing a regular meal pattern and encouraging an appropriate amount of regular exercise. Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on the patients excessive concerns about weight, persistent dieting, and binge-purge behaviors. Many times patients binge eat and then purge because they are depressed. Using antidepressants may help the bulimic patient to prevent a relapse. Vitamin therapy and hospitalization are usually associated with anorexia nervosa.
