Question: From the following compounds involved in cellular respiration, choose those that are the net inputs and net outputs of glycolysis. Drag each compound to the appropriate bin. If the compound is not involved in glycolysis, drag it to the "not input or output" bin.

Basically, it is asking to place the following compounds into one of three categories: NAD+, glucose, CO2, NADH, ATP, coenzyme A, Acetyl CoA, pyruvate, O2, ADP. The categories are net input (of glycolysis), net output (of glycolysis), and neither. I believe NAD+ and glucose are net input. I think CO2, NADH, ATP, coenzyme A, Acetyl CoA, and pyruvate are net output. I think O2 and ADP are neither. Could someone tell me if these are right. Clicking the image above is basically the easier way of reading this explanation, but the explanation is here for those who can't view the image. Thanks!

The link reaction is:

2CH3COCOO- + 2NAD+ + 2H2O + CoA -->AcetylCoA + 2NADH + 2H+ + 2CO2

Net input = 2CH3COCOO-(pyruvate) + 2NAD+ + 2H2O + CoA

Net output = AcetylCoA + 2NADH + 2H+ + 2CO

Neither = ADP,ATP,O2,glucose.

net output - nadh , co2 ,

the above is the formation of one pyruvate to acetyl coa

net input - 2 nad+ , 2 atp , 4 adp
net output - 2 nadh , 2 adp , 2 h2o , 4atp

the above is the formation of pyruvate from a glucose molecule
combine them and you get glucose to pyruvate to acetyl coa

Inputs = O2, ADP, NAD+, Glucose
Outputs = NADH, ATP, Pyruvate, Acetyl COa, and CO2
Neither = Coenzyme A

Net input: NAD+, ADP, Glucose, O2.
Net output: ATP, NADH, CO2.
Neither: Acetyl CoA, Pyruvate ( not net input or net output, they are intermediate during the process of cellular respiration).
CoEnzyme A could be considered as net input and net output, cause it enters the process and leave it as it is, cause enzymes help in the process and never consumed.

ADP is an input of glycolysis?

I believe it is, because it is required to regenerate ATP.

it's the first step of cellular respiration

you produce:
2 pyruvate for the citric acid cycle
4 ATP (with a net of 2 ATP)
2 NADH
