Homologous chromosomes code for the same genes, so you typically have 2 versions of the same gene.  How do these 2 versions of these genes determine your phenotype?  If they have 2 versions of the same gene, which version is implemented?  Is it simply a compromise between the two?  Or is there something i'm not seeing?
