phenotypes are the physical traits the animal has... fur color, tail length, height, weight, eye color etc.  the genotypes are the specific genes that determine the above characteristics.  Unless you are a molecular biologist, you probably won't know these... I sure don't.  I don't even know the genes that regulate my own body!
