A lot of medications are created/discovered from plants found in nature. By destroying habitats you will never know if some random plant could have held the key to curing cancer...

1. Through the destruction of the rain forests, perhaps the traditional remedies will no longer be optional and people would have to invest more time and effort to synthesize a drug that can deliver, and further advance the understanding and effort to the field of pharmacy. It would also mean more profit potential for pharm companies, encouraging the specialization where giant companies to concentrate one study at the time and allows faster progression of scientific advancement.
