Familial Meditarranean Fever results in short but reoccurring episode of fever, as well as pain in the chest, joints and abdomen. The disease occurs most frequently in individuals of Mediterranean descent. The gene responsible for FMF was discovered on chromosome 16 in 1997. The following pedigree shows the occurrence of this disorder in one family.

Identify the phenotypes and genotypes of all the people shown in the pedigree

This is a recessive autosomal disorder (both males and females are affected, and two unaffecteds have affected offspring)
I 1: Ff   2: Ff
II 1: Ff   2: Ff    3: ff    4: F- (cannot know genotype because both offspring are unaffected)
III 1: ff   2: Ff (unaffected, so F-, but father is affected (ff), so must be Ff)    3: Ff   4: Ff
IV 1:F-  2: ff    3: F-
Phenotypes for white symbols: F or unaffected
Phenotypes for black symbols: f or affected

thank you Slight Smile)

Shouldn't IV-1 be Ff because the Father is ff and the Mother is Ff?
