Answer: Isometric

During an isometric contraction, a muscle attempts to contract, but it is met with a resistance of equal force in the opposite direction, therefore, it cannot shorten.

Think of using your arms to push with all your might against a wall; the wall exerts an equal and opposite resistance so your muscle does not extend or flex, despite the fact that your triceps are attempting to contract.
