Supporting clients and families through memory loss Crystal Buffalo Robertson college online Lloyd Richard May 29, 2017 Abstract As a social support worker, I researched that having a client who is starting to show signs of memory loss I would have then must start a coping strategy that will ensure that what they can remember and can’t remember, having their medication taken first is priority on the list of things just in case they forget about taking their medication. Make a prioritize list of goals that they can get done fast with someone’s help. Another option is to strategize, making sure my client can help him or herself when nobody is around so they can look after little things like cooking and shopping. Helping my client set realistic goals, develop a routine, help them on approaching one task at a time so they dot get stuck, give them positive feedback such as letting them know it’s not the worst day and things like that, get them sources ask what religion they like, have family and friend more in their lives, have my client get in support groups. Body Being a support worker for a client who is showing signs of memory loss, I would have to Research about how to treat my client and their family I would then also have to attend Workshops and lean forward on becoming the best support worker I can become on helping my clients individually. As their support worker, I would have try to have the best knowledge and skills to provide the best necessities of life and provide lots of information for the family that needs supporting on. I’ll have my client do memory games when working with him or her have my client makes goal plans with the family that are close with make appointment dates, schedule meeting that all have an alarm so they will know it is important, being a support worker me focus will be that ensuring my client has all the right tools so that at the end of the day my client will have all the supported documents in hand References (Alzeimers Association, n.d.)
