Caisha Williams September 5th, 2018 Outline 1 Professor Southworth Outline 1 He believes that it is possible to continue a new belief without having the right evidence. He claims that you won't have to question the belief or have any doubts. Clifford is arguing that the ship does not need extra evidence to prove that it goes out in the sea but later on he was proved wrong. He believes that if he steals money from any person they won't receive any harm because it is possible that they will not feel the loss, or it might have prevented the person from using it in a bad way. Pragmatism is a philosophical movement that includes those who claim that an ideology or proposition is true if it does work satisfactorily, which means that it is to be found in the practical consequences of accepting it, and that unpractical ideas are to be rejected. He is a pragmatist; the lives of his passengers were concerning compared to if the ship was in decent condition when it returned. His claim did make him responsible for every situation after he placed his doubt of the old vessel and its stability. He should have known that the ship was old and needed repairing also the weather was not safe for her to go in. His belief/actions were unacceptable for him to even put his “belief” over the safety of others is very atrocious. The philosophical way is not a personal point of view or an opinion it is a tradition that someone would be raised or what they wanted to be akin with.
