Spechelle Russell SPT1113 W03 Public Speaking All Children Should Be Vaccinated Just think of the millions of babies that are born each day in the United States. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the U.S. was just shy of 4 million babies being born in 2015. With babies being born comes the decision whether or not to vaccinate your kids. Parents are becoming more concerned and interested in what is being injected into their children. By becoming more aware they question if vaccinations are safe and beneficial to their kids. It will first help to know what a vaccination is and what is it purpose A vaccine is a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease.  According to Scientific American web the failure to vaccinate children endangers both the health of children themselves as well as others who would not be exposed to preventable illness if the community as a whole were better protected. Transition I: In my speech, I will explain to you the importance of children being vaccinated and how it will be beneficial to them later on in life. A child being vaccinated is extremely important and necessary to do. Not only will it prevent them from contracting many diseases, it will prevent certain disabilities that could take place. According to PHD Nora Henrikson a Research Associate at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, vaccines also help prevent disabilities such as blindness and paralysis that can be caused by disease. The World Health Organization states that a vaccination is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions. Vaccinations are steadily showing us why they are vital to our everyday life. Transition II: Vaccinating children will impact their life as far as how they grow up health wise and population wise. The Children who we are worried about vaccinating are the future to our society. Our World and Data states that if vaccination coverage is improved an additional 1.5 million deaths could be avoided That is a tremendous amount of lives being saved. You never know one of those 1.5 million people could be the person who finds a cure for cancer. Vaccines.gov stated if we continue vaccinating now, and vaccinating completely, parents in the future may be able to trust that some diseases of today will no longer be around to harm their children in the future. Transition III: According to Science direct web vaccines can positively impact health. A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that the vaccinations given to infants and young children in the past 20 years alone will prevent 322 million illnesses and save 732,000 lives just in the United States. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health states that Vaccination plays an important role in the prevention of cancers. It is not a cure but preventing the cancer means our children could subsequently live longer and healthier lives. In Summary, It should be mandatory for all children to be vaccinated, considering the positive effects on health and increase in life expectancy. Vaccinations are the key to our children having a bright and healthy future. Now when you are asked whether to vaccinate your children or not, just think of the healthier and longer life your child could have by choosing vaccination. Thank you for your time.
