Christian Ethics Dr. Dennis Corle DVD 1 Introduction to Christian Ethics Christian ethics will affect your treatment of people. You will end up doing people wrong instead of doing them right. Many times you can get away with it. Because you are in a position to get away with things more Leaders have to be the most careful about ethics. The more liberty and authority you have, the more dangerous you are. The more you have to be concerned about checking your ethics. The more you can get by with because of your position. They may be legal, but not ethical. Moderation is something that corrects the injustice of justice. What is right, fair and ethical is not just what is legal. The attitude of feeling like I can do anything I want to do has done more to damage fundamentalism in the eyes of the world and in the eyes of other people that are saved. Our convictions do not give us as much trouble as our ethics. Our standards do not give us as much trouble as our ethics in promotion of our standards. You need to be extremely concerned about your ethics if you are to be a leader. You will be the people in a position that can get away with being unethical. A person that is ethical is not just concerned about the letter of the law, they are concerned about fairness. They are concerned about other people, not just themselves. Concerned about what is fair Concerned about areas that are not clearly defines, do people right Ethics have to do with doing right in areas that are not clearly defined. Are you doing to other people what you would like them to do to you? Are you treating people like Jesus would treat them? Will give a review before the test. Study all the notes then freshen up on the review. I want you to stop and think about things during this class. Digest through things. Let it have an impact on you. Wants us to be accountable. Do your assignments. Paper on ethics between: Husband and wife Parent and child I can do things as a leader and get by with it, it doesn’t make it right. Double spaced At least 5 pages Doesn’t take a lot of info to write 5 pages Why have write papers: Has the opinion that people of God in this generation don’t know how to write. They can’t communicate on paper. Need to communicate on paper, with force Someone must learn to express themselves effectively in print. Major help needed in Fundamentalism Has had hardly anyone who failed his classes if they did all of his assignments and made any effort to study. If you have failing grade, you can write another 5-page paper to make up for that grade. If you don’t have it in your head, you better have it by hard work. Hard work is what the ministry is made of. The person who can’t make high grades and is a hard worker will get more done than the man who everything comes easy and they are coasting. No one will be able to administer your test in the ministry. The grade you get in heaven, will be determined by your character. If you learn to work hard, pressure is part of life. What you have in school is nothing compared to what you have in ministry Pressure helps you to get something done.
