Parallax

Description
Nearby objects are viewed at different angles from different places. These objects also appear to be in different places with respect to more distant objects when viewed at the same time by observers located at different positions. Both effects are called parallax, and they are used by astronomers, surveyors, and sailors to determine distances. (Tobi Zausner)
