Description
In vertebrates, nerve terminals at neuro-muscular junctions release acetylcholine and corresponding receptors are present on the cell membrane of muscle cells.
Attachment of acetylcholine to receptors on muscle cell membrane initiates influx of sodium, and subsequent changes leading to contraction of muscle cell .
