Description
(a) The octaploid strawberry on the left has eight sets of chromosomes and is much larger than diploid strawberry on the right. (b) The diploid daylily on the left, with two sets of chromosomes, is smaller than its tetraploid relative on the right, which has four chromosome sets. (c) Bread wheat, Triticum aestivum, is an allohexaploid. Its six sets of chromosomes are the result of two separate species hybridizations and subsequent chromosome doublings.
